About the Position

You will play an important role in a successful team within an authority that is experiencing strong growth. In this position, you will mainly be responsible, together with a team of technicians, for the installation, operation, and maintenance of data and security solutions within alarm, access, and surveillance systems. Furthermore, you will work closely with various units and suppliers to handle and respond to technical inquiries and provide technical support to decision-makers within the organizations.

About the Organization

FMTIS has five units that perform operation and maintenance of the Swedish Armed Forces' command systems. The Northern Implementation Unit is one of them. The unit has a geographical spread that largely covers Norrland and is staffed with both military and civilian personnel. The Umeå Implementation Department currently consists of a total of 18 people.

Main Responsibilities

The Work as an Installer/Technician

  • involves independently or in teams planning and executing installations, maintenance actions, and repairs as well as commissioning of the Swedish Armed Forces' various technical systems and other command technical equipment.
  • Includes cable routing, termination, fiber splicing, and installation of active and passive equipment as well as commissioning.
  • is largely performed at the Swedish Armed Forces' unmanned facilities, which means that travel and overnight stays at other locations are common.
  • is primarily located within the geographical work area of Norrland, but other parts of the country may also be involved.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • High school education with electrical/telecommunication focus, electrical and energy, or equivalent knowledge and skills deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Experience in installations within electrical, telecommunications, or IT/network (copper/fiber).
  • Good knowledge of English and Swedish, both spoken and written.
  • At least a B driver's license.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability, where engagement weighs heavier than formal education.

DESIRABLE

  • Experience in alarm, access, and surveillance systems.
  • Obtained electrical authorization.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting and documentation of electrical or telecommunication installations.
  • Completed military service or basic military training.
  • BE/C/CE driver's license.

Other

Employment type: Permanent. The Swedish Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not currently employed by the authority. Full-time position based in Umeå. Travel within the job is very common. The position is civilian. In the Swedish Armed Forces, the position is referred to as Telecommunications Engineer. Start date as soon as possible or by agreement.
